Cheesemaking Excursion to Bracciano
Castel Giuliano is a hamlet within Bracciano, a medieval lake town an hour north of Rome. Counting a little over 180 inhabitants, Castel Giuliano is immersed in rolling hills dotted with pastures, vineyards, and farms. There, the Gentili family farmhouse is surrounded by oak and olive groves where their heritage sheep produce incredible pecorino cheese. Our tour will start with a walk through the pastures and a visit to the farm. We’ll participate in a cheese workshop led by Giancarlo to produce sheep's milk ricotta or primosale cheese. Lastly, we’ll enjoy an aperitivo to taste the Gentilis’ award winning cheese alongside some local wine. Before heading back to Rome, we'll make a stop in Bracciano for a stroll through the medieval center, offering stunning views of the Castle and the lake. And, of course, coffee and gelato are always a perfect way to wrap it all up!
