Evening Stroll in the Centro Storico and Trastevere

  • 3 Hours
  • 1.25 Miles
  • pizza, porchetta, supplì, adult beverages, gelato
  • You'll Be Stuffed

This walking tour explores the history of Roman food commerce and drinking culture. It will take you through Rome's historical center as well as the closeby neighborhood of Trastevere, just across the Tiber River, where you'll get a fuller, unhindered view of how modern Romans  shop, eat, and use their public spaces--and how these local traditions continue to be influenced by historical practices and ancient Roman urban foodways. We will graze our way through major squares and wonderful backstreets and taste pizza, porchetta, fried baccalà, cheese, and gelato while delving deep into the city's cultural history, making sure to stop for a glass of wine, a cocktail, or a craft beer.
