Embarking on a food tour around central Naples offers a delectable journey through the heart of Neapolitan culinary tradition, where every bite tells a story of the city’s history, culture, and local craftsmanship. This gastronomic adventure begins with the legendary pizza napoletana,  whose pillowy crust topped with tomatoes, mozzarella, and fresh basil is the essence of Italian simplicity and excellence. As we wander through the bustling streets and vibrant markets, we’ll stop at historic bakeries where the sweet smell of sfogliatelle, pastries filled with citrus-spiked ricotta, lures us in for several sweets, which are some of Naples’ most well known dishes; while street vendors and local delis will provide a window into the city’s most beloved savory snacks: all of the fritti, or fried food, such as the frittatine, a pasta fritter bound with béchamel. This tour not only gives you more than a sampling of Naples’ best dishes but also offers a deep dive into the heart and soul of the city, where every meal is a celebration of life's simple pleasures.

Vomero to Pignasecca: Two Sides of Naples through its Street Food
This is a great tour for ambitious walkers, those who like to explore the various contrasting sides of a complex and underappreciated city. Starting in Vomero, an elegant neighborhood perched in the hills above the city center, we will enjoy a frittata di pasta while we take in the grand panoramic views of Naples from Vomero’s terraced spaces. The next part of our journey takes us  down a medieval staircase of 400 steps and leads us directly to the historic Pignasecca market, in the heart of the chaotic, bustling city center, which is also home to one of the city's most incredible pizza makers.
Each stop along the way will allow us to taste various examples of Naples’ best street food that reflect each neighborhood’s identity, from the expertly crafted, warm sfogliatella pastry to the everyman’s ricotta and cicoli sandwich. By the end of the tour, besides being full, you will have gained a deeper perspective on Naples through two under-explored neighborhoods, and you will realize why Naples and its cuisine are beloved around the world.
